The Mass for animalsOwners of many kinds of animals like horses, dogs, cats, hamsters, turtles and even fish, took part in the Mass, celebrated specially for them on Sunday in Choroszcz near Białystok. This custom was initiated 5 years ago and it is connected with falling on 4 October Saint Franciszek's from Asyż Day (patron of ecologists), that is Worldwide Day of Animals. The Mass was celebrated in the altar next to the church in Choroszcz and most people who took part in it, brought their animals to bless them. Many people went to this untypical Mass first time in their life. Farmers brought their horses, children – their puppies and cats. There were doves too, which were let to freedom, during the Mass. |
