Curiosities

The copy of  Merefnebef tomb inWarsaw.

Eight years ago a group of Polish and Egyptian archaeologists led by  Karol Myśliwiec found a tomb with unique relics and paintings. The sensational discovery took place in the vicinity of the oldest pyramid Saqqara . The tomb of grand vizier dated from 3000 BC is well – preserved.

There are plans to reconstruct the tomb in Poland . It will  be nine meters long, seven meters wide and three meters high. On its  walls there will be murals displaying the scenes from life of Merefnebef and images of his four wives. This replica  will be made of special plastic.

There are two conceptions of this project. One of them assumes that replica should be easily  dismantled but this one is more expensive and would  cost about 150 thousand zloty. The second version is a  cheaper solution of a stationary copy of the tomb which would  cost about 60 thousand zloty. The replica of the Egyptian tomb of Merefnebet will probably stand in the Palace of Science and Culture in spring.
