“Flying” Małysz
Adam
Małysz, the best Polish ski jumper, looks like a schoolboy. He is shy
and modest, fame didn’t spoil him. He was born and still lives in a town
of Wisła in the southern Poland. His career began in 1995. For two
consecutive seasons, he was moderately successful in the Ski Jump World
Cup, the 7th and the 10th in the overall standings. He re-emerged in the
2000/2001 season when he won the Vier Schanzen Tournee and the World
Championship on K90, being second on K120. His victories brought him an
enormous popularity. Even those who had never been interested in ski
jumps, hurried to watch Małysz on TV. His hometown became a place of
frequent trips of his fans. In 2002 Małysz achieved a silver on
K120 and bronze on K90 at the Salt Lake City Olympic Games. In 2003 he won
both World Championship Titles and added another Ski Jumping World Cup.
Everyone in Poland hopes for his victories this year as well.
