Polish theatre at the Barbican

Londoners can see the works of Polish artist and stage director Tadeusz  Kantor at Barbican Art Gallery. The show will be on till the middle of April 2006.

Kantor is among  Poland’s most outstanding artists of the second half of the 20th century.

 He was the founder of the experimental theatre Cricot 2 which became world famous in the 1970s.  Kantor is also said  to have been the creator of a new vision of theatre - the “Theatre of death” in  which the past is always present. The  main motives of his works were death, passing, memory and history. The works in the exhibition include sculpture, performance, photography and video.
